TEST - 1 scheduled date ( 24/08/2008) Sunday.

The portion for the test: Module I & II
* Chapters 1 to 38.

The following chapters are excluded :

Module I -
Session 12- US GAAP and IFRS Standards
Session 13- Analysis of 10-K or Annual Report
Session 14- Overveiw of other filings
Session 15- Merger Acquisition accounting
Session 16- Consolidated Company accounting
Session 18- Taxation.

The test paper pattern :

* 20 Qustions of 2 marks each. Total 40 marks.

*Multiple choice questions.

* Duration of the test will be 1 hr.

* Test timimg : 9.30a.m to 10.30a.m

The portion for the test : Module III & IV. Chapters: 39 to 53.

Test - 3 scheduled date (13/09/2008) saturday.

The portion for the test : Module V & VI. Chapter 54 to 89.

The test paper pattern will remain the same as test - 1.

Test timing: 9.30a.m to 10.30a.m

Investment Banking Analyst- course evaluation pattern:
 

Preliminary Test:( Internal test )

1.Class test : There will be Six class test based on the 11 modules in the course. The passing percentage is 60% ( Aggregate of all test).

2. Case Study: Financial Modelling of a company - a report to be prepared and a VIVA   based on the same .  the total marks will be 100.The passing percentage is 50%.
 
Final Test:

( Only those students who pass the preliminary tests will be allowed to appear for the final test to be conducted at NSE )

The portion for test - 3: Module V & VI. Chapter 54 to 70.

There will be no re - test conducted for any of the internal tests. The marks alloted will be zero .

The student will have to excell in his/her performance in the forth coming tests to make up for the total aggregate marks in the preliminary test:(internal tests).

As per the course evaluation requirement the students have to prepare the project report as per the company choosen by them. The data for reference is avaliable on NSE & BSE website. The last date for submission of project report is 7th November,2008. upto 5.00p.m.

Due to technical default and non avaliability of complete data in the case study question.there will be a retest on test - 4 scheduled date (12/10/2008) Sunday.

Test Pattern:

The VIVA has been postponed to 17/11/2008. (monday).
A detailed examination evaluation process is as follows:

The Investment Banking Analyst Certification process:
 
1.Preliminary:

a)During the course 6 Internal tests of 40 marks shall be conducted on regular basis.. Passing minimum 60% aggregate.

b)A project on financial Modeling of a company (NSE / BSE Listed Co. chosen by the student)100 marks.

c)Student is supposed to prepare the financial model consisting of

a)Income Statement / Balance Sheet / Cash flow statement / Debt Schedule quarterly & annually for past THREE years from the filings available on NSE / BSE / Company website.

b)Forecast for next FIVE years based on historical trends / seasonal trends and arrive at valuation of company stock price based on DCF of future cash flows as well as two comparative methods suitable for the particular sector. Compare the P/E Ratio arrived at with the Industry average and justify.

c)This is to be accompanied with the report.

d) VIVA based on the project 50 marks.

NSE Exam No.1 consisting of

a)100 Marks & 75 Questions
50 Qs of 1 mark each & 25 Qs of 2 marks each.
b)There will be 20% negative marking.
c)The passing is minimum 50%.
 
The students who qualify in Preliminary and NSE Examination No.1 only shall be eligible to appear for Final exam. No.2
 
NSE Exam No.2
 
a)The student will be given a particular company to prepare a detail financial model same as 1 c mentioned above.

b)The duration of the exam will be conducted for 6 hrs at a stretch.

c)The students has to download filings from NSE / BSE / Company website.

d)The total marks will be 100.

e)Passing % shall be minimum 50%
  
The passing grades shall be awarded as follows

Aggregate % scored in NSE Exam 1&2
Grade Awarded.

Above 50% up to 60% C
Above 60% up to 75% B
Above 75% A

The Investment Banking Final Exam scheduled at NSE, details are as follows:

Marks:100 marks.
Duration: 2 Hrs.

Note:
* Students already registered with NSE kindly recheck your registration numbers from the list emailed to qualifying students.
* The mobile phones should be switched off before entering the examination hall.
* Carry your NCFM registration number and a photo Identity.
* Access to microsoft excel/ use of only scientific calculators allowed during exam.

Time: 10.00a.m to 4.30p.m

Venue:

Process:

*The student will be given a particular company to prepare a detail financial model, consisting of

a)Income Statement /Cash flow statement / Debt Schedule quarterly & annually for past THREE years and Balance Sheet for ONE year from the filings available on NSE / BSE / Company website.

*The duration of the exam will be conducted for 6 hrs at a stretch.

*The students has to download filings from NSE / BSE / Company website.

*The total marks will be 100.

*Passing % shall be minimum 50%.

* List of students who have cleared NSE final Exam 1 and eligible to appear for Final exam. No.2 has been .

* Those students who have been asked to resubmit their project reports their passing certificates shall be with held until the evaluation of their project.

Compare the P/E Ratio arrived at with the Industry average and justify.

c)This is to be accompanied with a brief report.

We hereby inform the students of Investment Banking Analyst Course - Batch -2, that the next NSE Exam is scheduled to be held on February 28th 2009.

Students have to meet the followings towards the eligibility for the NSE Examination.

1) Submit the final project latest by the January 30th 2009.
2) Subsequently appear for VIVA relating to the project
3) Clear the evaluation of project and VIVA successfully by scoring min 60% of marks.


For the students who were allowed to appear for the NSE examination in Nov 2008, but could not clear the exam, shall have to “Submit a DD of Rs.3,000/- in favour of IMS learning resources” latest by 9th February,2009 to be eligible to reappear for NSE exam to be held on February, 28th 2009

Dear IBA Students,

For Fresh Students.

Please note that the last date for submission of " Company Analysis Report" is 30th Jan'09. Students who submit their report by 30th Jan and sucessfully clear evaluation shall only be eligible to appear for NSE exam to be held in the month of Feb'09.

For Repeaters.

The students who were not able to clear the last NSE examination held in Nov'08 and want to reappear for the same, will have to fill up the NSE examination registration form (emailed to the student email address.)

The last date for submission of these forms along with a DD for the amount of Rs. 3,000/- in favour of IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd. is 28th Jan'09.

No forms shall be accepted after the last date.
